Metrology is the specialized branch of Industrial Engineering focused on the precise measurement of one or more physical parts.
With the aim of comparing it with a computerized virtual model to guarantee that it meets the necessary specifications so that the part can be part of a production chain.
The measurement of a part is important to guarantee its correct operation, save verification costs and time invested in development.
This can be done by using digital instruments such as specialized hardware and software, as well as analog measuring instruments supervised by a specialized operator.
The main measuring instrument is known as CMM or “Coordinate Measuring Machine”, which is made up of a sensor coupled with a robotic arm that receives instructions by computer.
